I have a very busy weekend coming up - I will basically be constantly either playing my vintage Farfisa combo organ at loud volumes (hopefully in front of people!), or traveling to and from places where I will be playing my Farfisa at loud volumes.
Friday, there’s a benefit show for my friend Charlsie Grace of the local D/FW booking agency The Artist Collective. She’s been diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease, and my band The Diabolical Machines, along with Missing Sibling, Year of the Bear, Spacebeach, New Fumes, and Mercury Rocket, will be putting on a benefit show for her at Lola’s here in Fort Worth. All donations will go to her medical expenses. She’s always been a big supporter for us and I really hope to see a big crowd out for this.
Saturday, we make the trek down to San Antonio for the first time. I’ve always wanted to have a go at performing in San Antonio, and we’re finally making it happen. We’ll be at The Mix, a popular bar/venue on N. St. Mary’s Street. Joining us will be two great San Antonio bands - the fantastic indie rock band Langton Drive, and the funky pop of General Avocado. No cover at this show.
Sunday, we have to head right back to Fort Worth, because we’re performing in the Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards Festival. We’ll be at Fred’s over off 7th Street at 5:00 PM. We’re playing the fest because we’re nominated for two awards in the Weekly’s big yearly awards thingy - EP of the Year and Female Vocalist Performance of the Year. You can go vote right here (our categories are on Page Three). This show is also no cover.
So now that I’ve put this out there, please come hang out! It’s going to be a busy, tiring, and fun weekend.
